He is physically fit, having been diagnosed at a young age with type 1 diabetes he is adamant about his health and maintaining a proper BMI to reduce further health risks. And it’s also a great way to attract possible suitors though his excursions with casual sex are not many but not nonexistent. He has a natural scowl that deters people from approaching him but his fun-loving personality usually shatters the concept of him being a bad guy. PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION LIKES; Cats: Honestly the breed doesn’t really matter so long as it’s feline. Dietrich felt a sort of kinship with cats since he was young – his mother being somewhat of a feline fanatic and thus his formative years had always experienced the presence of them. He also knows that cats, well any companion animal really, provides a sort of therapy and the company isn’t bad either. Assisting his patients: It was the reason he fervently pursued his career and psychotherapy and while he shares a fondness for aiding and protecting those who seek him out, he loves to help all people as a rule. Listening to Beethoven: It’s true what they say about the classics, they simply can’t be beaten. And of all the musical prodigy’s that every crested this Earth, Beethoven is Dietrich’s all time favorite composer. He enjoys sitting at home with a good drink and some nice music. Marshmallows: Things that he really shouldn’t be eating honestly. Dietrich has type-one Diabetes, inherited from a genetic defect in his father’s side that has stricken him by miraculously passed over his other two siblings. However, in spite of this, Dietrich still has a love of the fluffy snacks and often hides them in areas that he frequents. DISLIKES; Watching power & authority be abused: A good man won’t stand for misuse of authority, a better man will stand up to it. He may not be the better man but the German physician is of good intentions. Though he works for a somewhat sketchy employer who has committed deeds that are inexcusable, he also knows that going up against a corporation takes more than just bravery and a single voice. Belligerence toward SHIFTERS: It isn’t their fault that they were born into their circumstances, no one but the SHIFT Corporation can take responsibility for the misfortunes that follow the descendants of the program so he gets riled when he sees or hears of mistreatment toward them. Being powerless: They say a single voice has power but what they don’t mention is that it can be drowned out with money and a lawsuit. Dietrich, as per his employment agreement and common sense, cannot speak of the goings on within the corporation to outsiders. Even when he knows something is wrong. He hates not being able to do the right thing and despises himself for being as weak as he is in the face of those who treat life like a game. Materialistic people: Money is the green poison that has made many a nation into corrupt, foundering catalysts of toxic waste and its people have adapted to their environment. He hates people who see worldly possessions in a high respect than the person who dug their diamond from the mines, the people who built the Porsche they drive. He feels they all deserve a lesson in how to be humble and what their lives could be like without their financial security. STRENGTHS; assertive . detail-oriented . enthusiastic . capable . approachable . protective WEAKNESSES; rough mannered . overconfident . careless . forgetful . poor judgment outside of his profession . compliant QUIRKS; can fall asleep just about anywhere FEARS; being unable to help his patients . losing a life . becoming corrupt . falling prey to bad publicity GOALS; to be as useful as humanly possible PERSONALITY; Playful & Boisterous: People take for granted what it means to live and love life to the fullest, too concerned about their next paycheck. But Dietrich tries to live outside that norm and in doing so is seemingly carefree and exempt from the woes of modern society. He always appears to be happy about something, turning negative to positives and showing a very childlike air to everyone. Honest & Articulate: Dietrich means what he says and says what he means – there is no roundabout or go-betweens when he speaks and that is how he’s worked for many years. Honesty, while not always the best policy, is a virtue lacking in many people that he meets but he upholds his morale code. He speaks exceptionally well also, occasionally invited to speak at conferences or give reports. That and being well spoken helps with his particular line of work. Tactile & Affable: He is the proverbial nice guy, or looks it. Dietrich is a person who likes to be around people from all walks of life and doesn’t hesitate to show his all but bursting affection for his fell man. He’s a very touchy-feely person and not always in the manner that most interpret his attentions. Obstinate & emotionally shallow: A very bullheaded man, when he gets an idea into his head it proves very hard for him to let it go. Whenever his troubles surface he ends up fixating intently on them until he’s solved them no matter how long it takes for him to feel as though he’s found the solution. He also has difficulty with his own emotional balance despite his profession. He finds many of his expressions and feelings to be rather short-lived or have no depth to them. Hasty & Careless: It can’t be helped but sometimes everyone has their moments of irrationality and Dietrich isn’t the exception to that rule. There are instances when he doesn’t feel like he has time to think or grows impatient and through his impatience acts out of a seeming urgent need. He skips crucial thinking in favor of speed and often times makes mistakes he would otherwise not have made had he been thinking clearly. He only actually lived in his country until he was five and has little to no recollection of his time there. However, his family still upholds a fluid consistency in terms of dialect and he regularly exercises his German among his family & friends. His parents were middle-class and he has a younger sibling that he shares a love-hate relationship. She has always been something of the bane of his existence. He pursued a career in psychiatry and discovered later on that it wasn’t exactly what he had wanted to study and thus changed his career choice to become a physician and was later interned at the SHIFT Corps. He was happy to be among the group but felt mildly disturbed with the procedures, though he had a love reserved for SHIFTERS and actually wishes that he was one of them. |
