The year is 2059, thirteen years after the release. oh cool! that means a bunch of advanced technology, right? In the real world, it probably would. But here, for the sake of simplicity, the gi world is still very much the same as it is in the real world now. So, sorry, no hovercars or robotic-people. where the heck am I?? On the west coast of the United States - California, to be exact. how many known SHIFT locations are there? Large companies are known to branch out across the world, but as of today, there is only one known SHIFT corporation, and that is the one outside the city. what are common names for experiments in general? The most common nickname for an experiment is a "genus child", though they are also called beasts, half-breeds, and hybrids, among other inappropriate names that the more unsympathetic population has coined. so, that SHIFT corporation is still around? Yes. The SHIFT corporation was tried in the Supreme Court for crimes against humanity in the year 2046, about twenty years after initial experimenting began. However, with their insurmountable bank account, they had the best lawyers money could buy; though they were found guilty and forced to release their experiments, they were able to keep the majority of their equipment and information. As the public eye has turned to the experiments themselves, the corporation has had the opportunity to blend into the background and avoid attention. Taking advantage of the lack of surveillance, they're still up to their old tricks, and their labs are filled once more with various test subjects. can one escape from a lab? No. For twenty years, the testing the corporation performed escaped notice only because of their maximum security. Their main building is located miles from the city, and is surrounded by a fence thirty feet high, which also extends fifty feet underground. The entire area is patrolled by guards who have been professionally trained, and could probably shoot an apple off your head from five hundred feet away. Doors and walls are made of steel, and security cameras are mounted at every corner. Escape, as well as unwanted entry, is impossible. were human beings ever experimented on? Yes, they were. And they all died. Due to complications (ie, the body rejected the attached limb, failures in skin grafts, etc.) post-birth experiments were disbanded. So there has been no known human experimentation. (you may see one or two exceptions running around, as they were created before this rule was put in to place) "...my character was put in a foster home where he was hated..." No, they weren't. They're not going to bother releasing someone from a lab just to dump them in a home where they aren't welcome. C'mon, have some sympathy for your creations - the experiments are already discriminated against enough, no reason to use every excuse to make their life a sob-story. about ages: The liberation of the experiments was in 2046, thirteen years ago. The youngest any experiment can be is thirteen years old (this does not include the experiments that currently being created inside the labs, which are, as of right now, non-playable characters). The oldest any experiment can be is 30 years old. Depending on what genus you choose to create, their age will fall between those two numbers. For information on the creation dates of each experiment, please refer to the character data. about reproduction: The genes of all the experiments are still very touchy - due to this, only two members of the same genus can reproduce. There are currently no hybrids or cross-breeds between experiments and humans. Perhaps one day, their DNA will stabilize after several strong generations have passed, but that day is not today, unfortunately. So when considering children, remember that you can only reproduce within your class. |
