He is lean and lithely muscled thus allowing him to boast the ability of running a mile in or under six minutes. Though he is not one to display brute strength or go about hand to hand combat, Jack can and is capable of knocking someone's lights out with one well aimed jab. The doctor likes to keep up on his routines just as much as his work, and because of this, is almost always on his feet. His dark tousled hair and eyes the color of envy aren't always the most striking of features, but when others take the time to notice them, he can appear quite handsome. Jack has high, defined cheek bones, a straight nose, and a charming smirk to bring it all together. His voice is like dark chocolate, smooth, sometimes bitter, but always clear. Though he has the resources to get his clothes dry cleaned, or to even hire someone to come to his upscale apartment and iron his clothes, Jack almost always wears somewhat wrinkled clothing. The clothing, though it makes him look quite disheveled, is always of name brand and high end material. The doctor simply doesn't care about what he wears - just where he is going and what he is doing. Some people mistake this with uncleanliness, but it's not that he doesn't wash his clothes, he just doesn't hang them up neatly like most people. Jack has larger priorities than ironing. When Jack isn't wearing his lab coat at the hospital, or his regular civilian clothing, he might be found hosting a gun underneath his jacket or some steampunk goggles on his head. With hobbies like tracking down SHIFT Corps executives and experimenting with genetics scientifically, these various types of equipment are sometimes necessary. PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION LIKES; • Helping people; He became a doctor for a reason, and that was to help people. Jack is known to be a work-a-holic at the hospital, but wouldn't have it any other way. • Working with shifters; Jack sympathizes with the SHIFT experiments, and it is his goal to help them just as much as he helps anyone else. Someday, he would like to find a way to revert their genes back to being completely human. • Double scotch single malt; He drinks from time to time - but not to get drunk. Jack appreciates the art of liquor, and takes his time to enjoy his whiskey. • Women; Jack is and always has been a big fan of the opposite gender. Some take him for a womanizer, but if they took time to see past the smirk, they'd realize he could be quite the catch. Despite the occasional one night stand, Jack would make for a wonderful knight in shining whatever. DISLIKES; • The SHIFT Corporation; Since moving here from Seattle, Jack has made it one of his top priorities to make life for the SHIFT Corps hell. Once in a while, he can get into a tight situation, but he's still alive for now. • Facists, racists, sexists; Jack is a human, but he is not unaware of the things that go on around him. He is all for equal rights and opportunities. STRENGTHS; • Agility, strength, and stamina; He's in shape, can hold his own in a fight, and never backs down. Jack is someone that doesn't let anything hold him back. • Intelligence; To become a doctor, Jack had to go to school for a very long time. He's very intellectual and can hold an educated conversation with just about anyone. WEAKNESSES; • Workaholic; Sometimes, Jack is a little too involved with his work, and though most of the time he manages to keep his emotions out of it, there are some cases that he can be obsessive about. QUIRKS; • Cooking; If Jack wasn't a doctor, he probably would have been a top chef in New York City. The man enjoys cooking when he has the time. • Hand building; Jack makes his own scientific equipment. It all takes on a steampunk look, but he just uses what he has handy, and what will work best. He likes his little projects. • Ferry boats; Jack has a thing for ferry boats. It's unexplainable - he just really likes them. FEARS; • Assassination; He knows that the SHIFT Corps know of him and his motives. It's only a matter of time before they try to take him down before he can sabotage their company. GOALS; • Ruin the SHIFT Corps; He would like to see the building in shambles. Someday, it will go down, and he's determined to be one of the people that helped do it. PERSONALITY; Jack has a charismatic and charming type of personality for the most part, though he can also be harsh and unforgiving given the right circumstances. What he likes to be doing the most is his job, working at the hospital and saving lives. He doesn't allow much to get in the way of that, and doesn't plan on losing his focus anytime soon either. Many people see him as someone who shouldn't have a care in the world because of his job and status, but there are also a large amount of people who don't get to know him very well. Jack cares about much more than himself - he cares about the big picture. Coming from a decent sized family has humbled him just as much as his line of work. There are certain things about his childhood and his past that he doesn't like to talk about, but with the right person, it wouldn't take much for him to open up. He doesn't trust easily, and it might be traced back to when his father was murdered, but when he does, he is always very committed. Jack doesn't take betrayal well though, and is definitely the jealous type. He can be committed and in something for the long haul, but the moment someone says or does something he deems unforgivable, it is hard for him to come back from something like that. Eventually, he can, but it's a lot of work. Jack is one of those guys who says what he means, and does what he promises. He's a man of his word, and can always be expected to do the honorable thing. He was raised to be a good person, and living up to his father's expectations is always a top priority. Many people around him think that someday he will go down in the history books, but for what exactly, they remain unsure. CHRONOLOGICAL TIMELINE CURRENT RESIDENCE; Silversun Apartments, Suite 19 CURRENT OCCUPATION; Surgeon, scientist, rogue HISTORY; Jack was born in Seattle, Washington, on a summer day. He was the the third child, and the only son out of his parents four children. The Augustines were a upper-middle-class family that lived quite picturesquely. Jack's mother was an elementary school teacher and his father worked at a foundry, but they both made sure that family was their number one priority. When Jack was eleven years old, he and his father, along with his youngest sister, were inside a gas station when two men came in with guns. They robbed the cash register, and then moved on to the customers. One demanded that Mr. Augustine hand over his wallet and watch, but when he wouldn't take off the heirloom watch, they shot him. It was something that changed Jack's whole outlook on life. He wanted to live up to his dad's expectations, even if the man wasn't there to witness them. Jack took advantage of nearly every academic opportunity offered to him. He got good grades and did what he could for his family. Being the only boy in the house wasn't anything that he particularly enjoyed in his adolescence, but his best friend Neil was always there for him to talk to. After graduating high school, Jack went all the way out to New Hampshire to go to med-school at Dartmouth. After that, he began his internship in Manhattan, and then transferred back to Seattle for his residency. He had been young when the SHIFT experiments were first released, but that didn't stop his fascination with them, and his disgust for the corporation that had started the whole thing. Because he was once again on the west coast, Jack took an interest in the very city that the SHIFT Corporation was based, and initiated yet another transfer. With hopes of helping and treating both regular civilians and the released experiments, Jack also wants to see the SHIFT Corps burn to the ground. He knows that they are still up to something, and makes an avid hobby of trying to sabotage the highly ranked employees. In the mean time, he also wants to come up with a way to possibly revert shifter genes back to being human - though he would never test an actual person. Jack simply wants to fix what the SHIFT Corporation started, but he wants to do it the right way. |
