He hates being called by his middle name. AGE; 20 GENDER; Male ORIENTATION; Bi CLASS; GENUS MEDIUS SHIFT SPECIES; Bengal Cat BIRTH DATE; August 19th GENETICS EYES; Colored deep, murky brown, Kean's eyes switch from having slit pupils to round ones depending on the light around him. HAIR; Long and with a red-brown color, Kean's hair is always clean and well kept, him having the cat-like habit of paying much attention to his personal hygiene. WEIGHT; 133lbs HEIGHT; 5"7 VOICE; Kean usually speaks in soft, mild tones, his voice almost a humming purr. When he's angry, however, his voice lifts to an outraged screech, much like an angered cat. FACE CLAIM; Cheshire Cat from Are You Alice DESCRIPTION; Kean is, in short, a very neat person. He might be described as femme, and could probably be mistaken for a girl at a distance due to his long hair, but once you come nearer it becomes clear that he is indeed male. His pose is, more often than not, the relaxed one of an uncaring teen, his thumbs hooked into his pockets and a merry-go-lucky grin on his face. His clothes and hair are always neat and clean as he can manage, and the two cat-ears on the top of his head as well as his long, red-brown tail are always brushed to the point of shining. Kean tries to hide his kitty-parts, however, and usually has his ears flattened under a cap and his tail hiding behind one of his legs, or slipped into one of his pants legs. Kean's appearance changes somewhat at night, however. His ears perk up, his eyes become slits and he gains a cautious, almost animal air. All his movements become stealthier and more precise, and sometimes he gains an alert expression and tenses almost as if to pounce when he spots a sudden movement. Kean's usual grin also gains a malicious, or excited gleam as his nocturnal nature kicks in. PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION LIKES; Strings (A cat thing he could never quite get over.), high places, skinship, playing pranks, being obnoxious. DISLIKES; Loud noise, cold water, getting dirty, closed spaces, winter. STRENGTHS; Flexible, acrobatic, calculating, has especially good hearing and sees fairly well in the dark. WEAKNESSES; Easily gets frightened by loud noises, sometimes too trusting, nosy QUIRKS; Hisses when displeased or frightened, has sudden energy bursts at night due to his nocturnal tendencies, brushes onto people he likes or deems "his", yowls when caught by surprise, can't resist swiping at strings and purrs loudly when pleased. FEARS; That he'll someday lose himself and become "All Cat", getting thrown out of his home, being hated by his loved ones. GOALS; To someday be independent and build his own place in life, to become one of the best music composers in the theater. PERSONALITY; Sensitive- Kean doesn't show it much, but he takes a lot of what is said to him very much to heart, and will secretly hurt over it for days. He doesn't like anyone to actually notice this, however, since it makes him feel pathetic, and when it is noticed he becomes extremely annoyed and will hiss in his anger. Amiable- In an almost kitten-ish way, Kean loves to make friends. Nothing makes him happier than spending time with someone he's taken a liking to. Once he believes someone can tolerate him, he'll cling to them, much like a cat to its owner, loving any company that comes his way and being overly-affectionate to whoever is kind to him. Obnoxious- Kean tends to say the wrong things at times, often on purpose. Mostly because he like to tease, and get a reaction out of people. He can also be something of a flirt at times, but not ever really expecting to be accepted, he flirts only lightly, making everything seem like a joke rather than actual attraction. Hypocritical- Kean has a fake air of confidence, one convincing enough to keep most people from figuring out his deep self-loathing. His little "shield" of sorts can be broken down by fear fairly easily, but even then he remains cool-headed enough to keep from breaking down completely and keep up either an obnoxiously haughty or polite attitude. Low Self-esteem- Having been teased relentlessly over being half-cat as a child, Kean has no confidence in himself or affection for himself, which is probably why he's starving for affection. Wild Side- Kean has many cattish habits, such as the urge he gets to pounce on small mammals, or the extreme attraction to catnip, that he can never really rid himself of. A lot of these behaviors are intensified at night, when he is in his nocturnal mode and bursting with energy. CHRONOLOGICAL TIMELINE CURRENT RESIDENCE; Nomad CURRENT OCCUPATION; Student at Braden Wallace University HISTORY; Kean was one of the less successful experiments, being more cat than human behavior-wise. As a child he'd often found himself unconsciously moving on all fours instead of standing and walking. Sometimes he'd even meow instead of speaking, and have to correct himself. The scientists were nice enough to him, however, and trained most of the more odd habits out of him, such as his tendency to raise a hand to his mouth every once in a while in an effort to wash his "paws" before realizing what he was doing and while Kean was praised the more human his behavior got, he still felt ashamed he hadn't been correct in his behavior from the start. How a human ought to act was obvious to him, but he found himself slipping into his cat ways more often than not even when he wasn't intending to. When the time came that he was released from SHIFT corporation's facilities, he was more terrified than happy. At the age of 7, he was given a home with a middle-aged couple who loved him well enough, but treated him more like a cat than a son. At first, he'd been bothered by them, since the wife was a short, plump, jolly woman, she would always try and make light of his cat's ears and characteristics, calling him her little kitten. The man was a gruff sort that would always prefer to ruffle Kean's hair rather than talk. It was mostly because neither of his adopted parents minded his cattish behavior that much of his old habits returned, and, without being scolded for them, took root in him once more. His adoptive parents, of course, had never had children of their own, and now needed money to raise their new son, and often went out to work, leaving Kean at home alone. His adoptive parents didn't dare send him off to school for fear of what other children might do to him, and so they kept him at home. Left unattended for so long during the day and even some nights, Kean's behavior became more and more like that of a cats, though his parents were far to busy to notice the change. One day, at the age of 10, when Kean's father approached him and was startled to find him partway through eating a mouse. Horrified, the man yelled at him and attempted to take the rodent's remains from his adoptive son only to be violently scratched by him, the small boy growling and lashing out at his father's hands before snapping back into his senses and apologizing profusely. It was then that the couple decided they ought to send him to school, to be disciplined and kept tame. School made Kean miserable. The children pulled his tail and ruffled his ears, and they never had clean hands while doing so. They teased him, calling him a mangy stray and a freak, and whenever he was scolded for anything by a teacher, they all called out "Bad Kitty!" making him turn red where he stood. It was then that Kean began to hate his cat ears and tail, knowing that his life would be so much easier without them. He began to try and hide them, but since he was already known as "Cat Kid" that just made the teasing worse. They'd snatch away the hat he was using to hide his ears and begin to mimic him, one putting it one and saying in an exaggeratedly high-pitched voice "Look at me! I'm Kean! I'm a real boy!" then start making Pinocchio references. By the time Kean'd graduated from school, he'd already learned that if he took their words to heart he'd die in misery, so he simply ignored them. That got him teased twice as much, for a while, but the bullies eventually got bored of him and his pleasant silence, and began to target others instead. When it came to going to college, however, Kean decided he could no longer depend on his adoptive parents, who'd grown old and wrinkled, for support and so told them that he had a place to stay and that they needn't worry about him any longer, him now being old enough to work for his money. He hadn't a place to stay, of course, but he didn't mind sleeping in the streets. His parents insisted on paying his college fee's, at least, so that much was taken care of. Over the years Kean had found much comfort in music and had gotten fairly good at playing and writing it himself, and so he began to play a flute on the sidewalks to earn him enough money to eat. Though, when he didn't really feel like playing for his food, he simply caught mice and ate those instead, having no qualms about eating small rodents and birds raw. Now, in his college, he keeps his ears and tail hidden, for fear of having the same treatment he got in school. |
