Yeah, yeah, illegal.
So, what else is new?
Guy's gotta find shelter somehow.
'Sides, this place is empty. It was raining. It was cold. Could he really be blamed for breaking into an apartment in an attempt to find temporary shelter? Kean didn't think anyone would hold it against him, as the owners of the place had emptied it long ago. It wasn't as if there was anything to steal in there but the warmth of the place. Kean was soaked from the rain, and his coat was dripping water onto the floor. If anyone had been living in the place, Kean wouldn't have been coming near. Besides, this place was well known for being filled with blackguards--break ins were to be expected...
Of course, there was still Kean's own person guilt. As he worked on the lock with a credit card, his ears were somewhat flattened. The sound of a passerby approaching made Kean turn and glare suspiciously. But the man passing by looked even more shady than Kean himself, and didn't seem to care that he was walking past what was obviously someone breaking into an apartment. Kean sniffled and turned back to his work, his face turning somewhat pale as he realized just how much risks he was taking. But cats never did like getting wet, and Kean didn't like it either. He was willing to do anything to get out of the cold water pouring down from the overhanging clouds.
The credit card not working, Kean tried a more cattish approach. He scratched at the door and meowed pitifully in spite of knowing there was no one inside. "Please? Someone? I'm freezing!" he whined pitifully, but no one would come to help him in this apartment building. Most of the people in this building were shifters trying to keep a low profile or just people who were hiding out. No authorities dared come near for fear of meeting the more scary shifters, and so this set of shabby apartments had become a sort of hidey-hole for all the criminals in the area. Kean bumped his head against the door and leaned against it with a sad little whimper. He never could manage to crack locks. He continued to claw aimlessly against it.
M'orw. the mournful sound escaped him. His tail drooped and his ears flattened on his head, and he looked more like a kicked puppy rather than a cat. Kean slid down the door and curled on the floor in front of it. He was still cold and getting wet from the open windows that lined all the walls in the apartment building. He sank deeper into self-pity, murky brown eyes closed as if that'd help.
On a nice day
