FULL NAME; Sophia Summer Song ALIAS; Summer, Sophia, Soph, Sophie, Bird-Freak, Shorty, Loud Mouth…etc. AGE; Twenty GENDER; Female ORIENTATION; Straight CLASS; Genus Medius SHIFT SPECIES; Falco peregrinus BIRTH DATE; July 15th GENETICS EYES; Brown HAIR; Dark Brown that fades to maroon at the tips. WEIGHT; 98 lbs HEIGHT; 5’ 5” VOICE; Velvety soft. FACE CLAIM; Yuki Kuran ~ Vampire Knight DESCRIPTION; Sophia’s beauty derived from both the intentions of the scientists and luck. In Sophia’s blueprints were a list of specific features they wished for her to have and how they wanted to construct her DNA. Though, all of the numbers and research done for her physical make-up was simply a formal way to state that the scientists wanted to see if they could make an angel. The human half of her is Japanese and Caucasian making her an exotic beauty. Sophia’s long, dark brown hair is pin straight and thin, easily flowing at the slightest breeze. In the light her hair takes on a reddish tint. Her large, doe-like eyes gaze with both aloofness and intensity, as though she can see right through you. Her favorite features are her long legs, which she often shows off in shorts and white wings that are speckled brown. Her wingspan is around 14 feet but is flexible enough to be brought in close enough to her back. Sophia is part Peregrine Falcon, which is the fastest bird in the world. Normally, Sophia wears casual clothes. She is very fond of think, slouchy sweaters and short pants. Her simple attire draws a lot of attention to her shoes, which she never goes cheap on. From flats, high heels, to boots, her footwear can be fashionable or questionable. During work, Sophia may wear sequined tops with leggings. Club attire, of course. Most of her tops either cut low in the back or she makes slits for her wings to fit through. She almost never feels a need to conceal her wings as she is very proud of them. PERSONALITY; Sophia is a rather complex character whose personality cannot be completely summed up in a few words. By nature, she is inviting and is the type of girl one would trust right off the bat. Her passion for music and equality draw genus children to her like a magnet. She hardly ever looks back at her past and likes to keep her eyes fixated on the future. While friendly and sociable, Sophia best expresses herself through music and art. Sophia is compassionate towards others, though she may express this roughly. Many times she’ll belt out commands such as, “You better start drinking milk! You’re getting shorter than me!” Anyone could clearly see that under her blunt words are love and concern. She hates to see a person who is excluded or being bullied and will automatically come to that person’s rescue. No matter how cold or dismissive that person may be, she’ll pester them until she really gets to know them. This either comes from curiosity, concern, or amusement. Ambitious and independent, there are few people in Sophia's life that she is close to. Many people may believe that they are her friends-- she treats everyone like a close companion. In truth, there is a part of Sophia that does not was to be dragged down with ties to others. she prefers to keep a hard exterior over her heart, allowing her true feelings to pour out in her art. There are not many people she is willing to share her inner most thoughts with. Those that are her friends, she is very loyal to. She would be at her friend's aid at a moment's notice. CHRONOLOGICAL TIMELINE CURRENT RESIDENCE; Dorm Room CURRENT OCCUPATION; Student at Stockton School of the Arts and DJ at Cloud 9 HISTORY; In everyway, Sophia’s conception was no different from that of the other experiments. Reptiles, aquatic animals, mammals… There were so many different animals to choose from. The SHIFT scientists created hybrids more perfect and beautiful than the last. Unsurprisingly, it came to the point where they began to wonder if they could recreate animals from the imagination. Obsessed with aesthetics and DNA splicing, a few scientists had decided to create angels. More than anything, the group of Avian children to be born would be created out of amusement and their desire to be God. Before Sophia was even an embryo with avian DNA, thorough research was done on both birds and humans. The scientists wanted to find the perfect combination between beauty, speed, and strength. Some were born with small, lopsided wings. Others had beaks and talons. Instead of arms, few had wings in their place. An even smaller percent were born with perfectly formed human bodies and wings attached to their backs. Their bones were hollow and they weighed less than an average human, but everything was in perfect order for them to fly in the future. She was labeled #945 and nicknamed Sophia as she angel who teaches wisdom. From the time she was an infant to the time she was three years old, she was kept in her own special room. In the beginning, they only wanted to watch the progression of her growth, make sure she was in stable condition. Sophia always guessed that she passed whatever examinations they threw at her, because she was then assigned to live with other bird-of-prey children. In the natural world, when certain species of birds of prey are born they attack the other chick, killing them. The children were naturally hostile towards each other, often fighting for dominance. The small group scientists watched behind thick, tinted glass with satisfied smirks on their faces. Just like the mother bird, they never interfered with the children’s natural aggression. Soon, the excitement surrounding the “angels” died when their animosity subsided. The children began to form a bond that would be eternal. At the age of 7 she was released from “captivity.” This struck her as odd because she never knew she was being held captive. The young girl had no idea that the only light that ever existed in her life was florescent. It took time but eventually the Waters family decided to adopt her and a young boy. Home was a strange concept to her. Apparently it was a smaller version of the Company, except with hardwood floors, furniture, and glass windows. In the beginning of this new transition, her and the boy refused to leave the house, afraid of the large world that lay outside their windows. They didn’t trust the countless number of people, the cars, and monstrous buildings. Their young minds had trouble grasping that there was more to life on the other side of their doors and that their days of being an experiment were over. “I was thinking that we gave you kids new names. Wouldn't it be nice to be a Waters girl? You know, officially be part of the family,” said Mrs. Waters. The girl looked up from her coloring book which she had been so meticulously bringing life to. Those large, suspicious eyes simply stared back before the woman became uncomfortable and began to busy herself with something else. She could still remember how Mrs. Waters frowned with her eyes. It wasn’t a look of pity, but rather one of exhaustion. It was an expression that she would know like the back of her hand over years to come. Mr. and Mrs. Waters allowed their new adoptive children to choose their names due to the fact that they clearly hated the idea of suddenly being given a new name. The world was already strange and unfamiliar enough. One day she picked up her father’s bass from his study and began to strum away. She quickly fell in love with music. The young girl named herself Sophia Summer Song and she would often sign her name, “Sophia’s Song. It was music and art that opened her heart and let the stoic shell of herself shatter. Their adoptive parents eventually forced Sophia and her brother into school. Sophia always thought it strange that the media claimed with such vigor that the Company was inhumane and tortured children. Yet there she was, thrown into an environment that wanted to tear out her very spirit. She did not react like most children would when they were made fun of. Words meant little to nothing to her. Her first instinct would be to strike first, which is exactly what she did. Needless to say, both children were expelled from school a total of six times. She never viewed her brother as a true brother, but rather a partner in crime. He was her closest confidante and the only person who was ever allowed to tackle or yell at her. To this day, Sophia can never perfectly trace why or how their feelings formed. What series of events would lead to such traitorous acts? Everything in their relationship seemed to turn upside down on her 16th birthday when he kissed her out of the blue. They never acted the same when Sophia decided she didn’t want to look him in the eye and he decided he never wanted to feel her touch again. During the summer of her 18th year, Mr. and Mrs. Waters announced that because the kids were of legal age, they would be leaving for Paris. She could tell they didn’t want their children to follow them. Their legal duty of parenthood was over. They needed a break. This came as no surprise to her. Always expelled, rebellious, and outspoken, they were never the trimmed and proper family the Waters had always envisioned. In a way, Sophia respected them for never abandoning her, for living out their obligations. Though they never struck the children, Mr. and Mrs. Waters never loved them unconditionally. Genus children simply stood out too much in the crowd and the Waters were looked upon with distaste for adopting not one but two. The family split up: Mr. and Mrs. Waters would live abroad, far away from them; Sophia would go to Art College; and her brother seemed to completely disappear. |
