Lunus looked out the window in the Library. He was sat on the floor next to a large pile of books, all of which about Writing techniques. The Librarian seemed rather accepting of the SHIFT experiments and had allowed Streak to enter once Lunus had explained. He smiled at her from where he was sitting and then turned to streak "At least some people don't hate us huh?" he said to Streak as he turned a page. Streak, excited to be in a new places started bounding up and down, his tail wagging a little. Maybe they're more like dogs than people think, Lunus thought with a smile before returning to the book.
He was revising some notes on enjambment but, since Streak had taken to attacking his school work, had to revise from the books. Though not all of the books had exactly what he was looking for, collectively they gave him detailed information about what it was and the exact use of it. He jotted down a final sentence before smiling and closing the book.
He stood and picked up the pile easily and started placing them on the shelves when his phone vibrated in his pocket. He continued placing them on the shelves until he was finished and then fished out his phone. The text read What time are you home? -Dad and Lunus sighed deeply "Why does he have to sign every text with 'Dad'?" he asked himself whilst shaking his head. |

It was annoying to think she’d been held back a year- all her hard work to get at least a pass grade had just been flushed down the toilet, fetched back, and flushed again for extra measure. And now, now she had to re-learn everything she had revised the previous year. But she wasn’t going to back down! Aha! No sir. She was definitely going to get her grades. Kumo skipped down the hallway towards the library, already carrying a number of books in her folded arms. What was it she had to learn again..? What was it..? She shook her head. No good, it had left her.
Kumo placed her hands on the doorframe to the entrance to the library and nervously looked around. To her luck there wasn’t many people, and she didn’t mind the librarian- she was nice. Waving, a smile graced her face for a short moment as the woman caught her eye, but she quickly moved on, making her way in and out of corridors of books. She was hoping that by some form of miracle she would come across the very book she needed and be instantly reminded of why she came here.
One thing she knew for certain; she hadn’t been expecting to come across a dog, or was it a wolf? She froze, eyes scanning around for the owner and finally her gaze came to a boy. At first she wasn’t sure what to think, but once her mind got over the initial shock she remembered- Shifters came to this school. Of course. Kumo exhaled, some of her fear being released but her muscles were still tensed and ready for if she felt the need to bolt.
And, of course, the very book- she decided- she needed was the very book that boy was putting back. She gulped, a shiver running the length of her spine. She would have to get closer; and she was terrified of dogs, and the fact that that animal might be a wolf just made the whole situation worse.
Bucking up the courage, Kumo walked rather clumsily over to the boy. “Umm- Ah-“ She muttered, watching her book slid back onto the shelf. God how she hated talking to new people. “E-excuse me.” She finally managed to stutter something out, what a relief... Her eyes darted to the wolf/dog/ thing but Kumo forced herself to stay focused on the boy in front of her. “I-I think I need that book...”
(((Thought I’d make her have to repeat a year considering she isn’t very smart- makes it so that they are in the same class I think (: )))

There were two things Alexandria didn't like about libraries. One: They were so quiet! It was understandable, of course - libraries were a place to study and focus. Where people could sit down and work in silence. But what if you wanted to work as a group. She knew from experience that, as nice as this librarian was toward people like her, get too loud and you've got to get out. For someone as social as Alex, being quiet was a bit of a difficulty. Number two was really quite simple. The whole 'no food' rule. Again, understandable. The books would get damaged, the tables sticky, and then bugs would come and with bugs would come rats and no body liked rats. If you were careful, then there was nothing to worry about. People were just paranoid and worried far too much about everything.
However, even Alexandria needed to go to the library sometimes, especially if she planned to pass admissions tests to get into a good college. Taking a year off to get used to life on her own seemed like a good idea at the time, but now that she was getting ready to go back to school... well put simply, she was starting to regret it. There was so much she had to get caught up in, not to mention she had to put aside time to work as well to get money. Unfortunately, it was hard to get hired for much else than menial jobs that no one wanted to do. But money was money and if someone needed something done, Alex was always happy to help.
She walked through the library quietly, adjusting her baret. It was a futile attempt to blend in - while her ears were hidden by the comfortable hat, the bushy tail that swished from side to side as she walked was from from the same. And no matter how she tried, she couldn't seem to hide that - even wearing a loose dress or skirt. So eventually, she gave up, settling for a comfortable pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She looked normal from the front - it would be after she'd passed that people would realize that she wasn't quite human. This way, she could avoid the stares.
Her usual spot was beside a window, but on the way there she found herself distracted. Not by books, no but by something else. An animal. A wolf, she recognized. She'd always admired wolves - such majestic creatures, beautiful and strong and proud. As she approached, she couldn't hold back the urge to kneel down and pet it. She didn't pay any attention to the other two standing there- a boy and a girl, as she reached out a hand to the creature.
"Hello, beautiful," she crooned. She knew better than to touch it without it's permission, so she was knelt down a few feet away, her hand extended toward it, palm up, in a welcoming gesture.

Lunus looked up slowly, he wasn't really used to being interrupted during his library time but he guessed she must have really needed the book if Streak didn't scare her off. "Oh sorry," Lunus said smiling slightly, "Here," He handed her the book and smiled before he recognised her, they were in the same class.
Just then there were joined by another Genus, this time a Medius. Lunus, who himself was a Genus, couldn't help but stare as the girl crouched near Streak and he saw her tail, she looked so normal otherwise. Streak got up, interested by the strange scent, and went to get a closer examination. He recognised the scent as a red fox, something his kind used to hunt, mixed with human. He felt no desire to hunt so instead sat down and grinned a wolf-ish grin. He was happy with his new friends.
Lunus grunted slightly, "Looks like Streak has a new friends, nice to meet you, I'm Lunus." he said to the new girl. She didn't seem that familiar but then again, medius' keep to themselves. |

Kumo took the book gratefully, pleased with herself for having spoken in the first place. To be totally honest the petite female hadn’t been expecting to see a Medius. Taken by surprise she couldn’t help but gasp at the woman’s tail. She quickly slapped a hand to her mouth, a guilty and apologetic expression dominating her face. “I'm sorry!” She exclaimed, a furious blush reddening her face. “I didn’t mean to- Its not that-“ Kumo shook her head. It was hopeless, she might as well just leave.
Swallowing, Kumo continued to watch the girl and to boy- she knew who he was, after a considerable moment of thinking. He was Lunus, they were in the same class; Kumo having been sent back a year he must have been sixteen. Kumo’s feet stayed rooted to the spot, she was determined to stay and make sure the girl hadn’t been offended in anyway. She really didn’t want people like him and her to think everyone was a against them or appalled by them- she had simply been... Caught of guard...
(((Ack... Sorry its short. >3<)))

She hoped beyond hope that she wasn't interrupting them in any way. She'd kept a short distance from the pair for a reason to avoid that very thing, but she guessed if the wolf was going to approach her it would only be a matter of time before the Genus attached to it would notice her as well. Wolves, she knew, were hunters. A creature that by nature, she should fear. Truth be told a small voice in the back of her head was telling her not to go near the wolf. But he seemed very well tamed and if Alexandria listened to the fox in her every time it spoke, she would be running every time she turned a corner. When the wolf was close enough, she touched his head slightly with a small smile.
"Looks like Streak has a new friends, nice to meet you, I'm Lunus." This time Alexandria couldn't help but retreat, pulling her hand quickly away from the wolf and standing up apologetically. She'd met some Amici that were very picky about people touching her partners. She should have asked! It took her a moment to realize the boy wasn't angry with her, but polite. Introducing himself.
Beneath her hat, her ears twitched slightly in the direction of a small gasp and she followed them, her eyes falling upon another girl who was quick to cover her mouth, her face reddening before she managed a quick apology. " “I didn’t mean to- Its not that-“
Why was she.... Oh. Alexandria's eyes fell upon her own tail and she flicked it out of sight as best she could, managing a small smile. This girl was a human. "It's alright, ," she said kindly. She was used to such reactions and after thirteen years in the world, it didn't bother her. "Please, don't apologize! It's a natural reaction for a human, after all. I try to be more discreet, but it's easier to hide my ears than it is to hide something like this" Her tail flicked again, a reflex. "My name is Alexandria, by the way. A pleasure to meet you, Lunus and..." she trailed off, looking at the girl expectantly.

Lunus looked down and smiled at the girl before she stood up, "It's ok, just commenting," he said smiling. His mind was whirring, a medius in a library meant that a medius went to school. This, in turn, meant bullying. "I guess I'm sorry," he was, of course, referring to the bullying and he thought she'd realise this too but then again, he kept to himself too.
Streak was bounding in a circle, drawing a disapproving eye from the librarian, but he was too keyed up about having some new friends. He sniffed them both eagerly and then chased his tail, making him seem more like a dog than a wolf. Lunus patted him as he passed but then let him jump on Alexandria playfully.
"Well it's nice to meet you Alexandria but i hope you dont mind him," Lunus said with a slight sigh before failing to pull Streak away.

Kumo hugged the book she was holding, her eyes averting to look somewhere else. Even if the girl said that she still felt guilty... “But-“ She started to say, looking back at Alex, “-It was rude...” She finished, her voice scarcely a whisper. Shifters must have to deal with people everyday so in a way Kumo saw why they wouldn’t be as effected by such things as a gasp. But either way, it must still get to them, it was just another reminder that they were different and still quite a long way from being accepted.
“Ah-I'm Kumo!” She said happily, forgetting her guilt as she watched Streak jump around. She winced, she didn’t really like dogs; but she didn’t want to land herself in the middle of offending two shifters. She would try to... See passed her... Prejudice on canines. The wolf did seem nice enough so there wasn’t really anything to dislike or be afraid of, was there?
For a first meeting it was more awkward than she would have liked. She knew Lunus, sure, but she had never spoken to him so... She didn’t know what to do. A lot of people just ignored shifters... Kumo’s expression changed to one of determination. She wouldn’t be like everyone else! They were people like her- some just had tails...

The girl's reluctance to accept Alexandria's reassurances brought a soft smile to the girl's lips. this was often why she always liked them younger - children and teenagers were much less prejudiced than the adults in the world. To many of them, the presence of shifters was as common as the sight of their own parents. It was much easier to get along with them and talk to them because they didn't look at you in a way that made one feel like an animal. Well, most of the time, at least. It was hard not to stare and be caught off guard by the sight of ears and a tail or an apparently normal human transforming into a full animal form.
"It's alright, I said, don't worry~," Alexandria assured her once more, hoping to ease the girl's discomfort. She took the statement of a name as a good sign and stored it away in her memory along with the image of the face. "Kumo," she repeated, testing the name on her tongue. It was a bit of an unusual name, Alexandria thought, vaguely, and sounded almost masculine, but it was at the same time simple and and rolled off the tongue. "Well, it's nice to meet you," she repeated.
She had noticed the wolf jumping around rather excitedly, but never expected it to jump on her and when it actually did, she took a quick step back. It was an instinctive move and had she not done it, she probably would have been able to better keep her balance and avoid falling back as she did. She yelped, startled, but quickly covered her mouth with her hands to avoid getting them in trouble from the librarian who was already irritated. As she hit the ground, her hat slipped off her head, exposing the ears and she flattened them against her head as a brief panic swept over her, both from the sudden exposure as well as the wolf's action.
She was quick to regain her composure, however, when the canine didn't make a move to attack. He was simply playing - an overenthusiastic puppy. Her ears straightened once more as she relaxed and she reached out to pet Streak's ears. "You scared me," she said quietly. She reached for her hat which had landed a few feet away. She glanced at the librarian, now watching them with a venomous glare, and offered an apologetic smile and a wave.
"I'm getting you two into trouble, arn't I?" she asked Lunus and Kumo quietly as she looked back at them. "Sorry,"
OOC: And that apology extends to you guys as well! Sorry I took so long ;A;
